For my first-ever Le Cookbook Club selection, I’ve chosen Jubilee by Toni Tipton-Martin.
I picked this extraordinary cookbook because it’s more than just a collection of recipes—it's a celebration of culture, history, and storytelling through food. Jubilee brings to life the rich legacy of African American cuisine, honoring the Black chefs and home cooks who have shaped how we eat all over the world today.
As we gather for the inaugural Le Cookbook Club event on February 22, 2025, we’ll cook from its pages and explore dishes like Okra Pilau, Louisiana Barbecued Shrimp, String Beans A La Creole, and Curried Meat Pies—each one filled with history and heart.
